CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) - Deshaun Watson's highly anticipated return to the field did not live up to expectations as he struggled in his first game back after a lengthy suspension. Despite Watson's lackluster performance, the Cleveland Browns managed to secure a 27-14 victory over the Houston Texans at home on Sunday.
Watson, who sat out the entire 2022 season due to a suspension for alleged sexual misconduct, completed 12 of 22 passes for 131 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked twice and his struggles were evident throughout the game.
On the other side of the field, Joe Flacco led the Browns' offense with efficiency and poise. Flacco, who took over as starting quarterback after Watson's suspension, has guided the Browns to a 3-1 record in his starts.
The Browns' defense played a crucial role in the victory, forcing two turnovers and sacking Texans quarterback Kyle Allen five times. Cleveland's defense held Houston to just 14 points and never allowed the Texans to fully threaten their lead.
With the win, the Browns improve to 4-6 on the season and remain in contention for a Wild Card berth in the AFC. Watson's return was not as smooth as many had hoped, but the Browns were able to overcome his struggles and secure an important victory.
