2007 Toyota Tundra 57 Power Steering Pump Removal

Remove a Power Steering Pump from a 2011 Tundra

Tools You'll Need

* 14mm socket * 10mm socket * 17mm wrench * Pliers * Oil drain pan * Funnel * New power steering pump

Instructions

1. Park the Tundra on a level surface and engage the parking brake. 2. Open the hood and locate the power steering pump. It is located on the front of the engine, on the driver's side. 3. Use the 14mm socket to remove the two bolts that hold the pump in place. 4. Use the 10mm socket to remove the bolt that holds the power steering hose to the pump. 5. Use the 17mm wrench to loosen the nut that holds the power steering reservoir to the pump. 6. Use the pliers to remove the hose clamps that hold the power steering hoses to the pump. 7. Carefully lift the pump out of the engine compartment. 8. Drain the old power steering fluid from the pump into the oil drain pan. 9. Install the new power steering pump in the reverse order of removal. 10. Tighten all of the bolts and nuts to the specified torque. 11. Fill the power steering reservoir with new power steering fluid. 12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. 13. Check for leaks and add more power steering fluid as necessary.

Tips

* It is important to replace the power steering pump if it is leaking or making noise. * A power steering pump can be replaced in about an hour. * If you are not comfortable working on your vehicle, you can have a mechanic replace the power steering pump for you.
